As a member of the Maxeler engineering team, you'll be working in a multi-disciplinary group of computer scientists, electrical engineers, mathematicians and physicists solving some of the hardest problems in computing. We work on applications to do everything from helping figure out whether there's oil under a 20km x 20km square of the earth's surface to calculating the value of complex financial derivatives to simulating the flow of water through a speck of rock a few millimeters across.

A typical project combines hardware and software expertise, analysis, algorithm design and architecture with implementation in C/C++, FORTRAN, Java or a host of other languages on a range of state-of-the-art platforms.

Tier 1 Financial and Oil companies already use Maxeler consulting and hardware solutions and our expansion in 2010 is driven by a strong increase in industry adoption of Maxeler systems and services.

Culture

At Maxeler you won't be part of a large team endlessly tweaking the same small aspect of a project. Instead you'll be a vital member of a small team that tackles almost everything. While everyone has their own specialisms, Maxeler's engineers are able to switch seamlessly, for example, from profiling and optimizing Linux device drivers to analyzing a client's proprietary application to determine the best way to achieve an order of magnitude speed-up. We value people who will pitch in, doing whatever needs to be done.

At Maxeler you'll be working in small groups (2-4 people) in a collegial and casual environment. We offer flexible working hours with a focus on what you do and not when you do it. We expect new hires to quickly rise to the challenge of taking responsibility, communicating efficiently, and growing with tasks and projects as we conquer additional markets and opportunities.

Since our customers are distributed internationally, we occasionally provide opportunities to travel to a variety of destinations in Europe, US and Japan.
