Low Latency Systems

Maxeler low latency solutions help our customers to respond to events as quickly as possible, sometimes well below 1 microsecond. Primary application areas are: High Frequency Trading, Direct Market Access, Ticker Plants and Stock Exchange infrastructure. However, domains such as deep packet inspection, credit card transaction checking, and front ends for internet service farms such as search and social networking benefit from our programmable network appliance, MaxNode10G.

The Maxeler MaxNode10G connectivity platform provides a 1U chassis with support for up to six high-speed data links such as 10G Ethernet or Infiniband directly connecting to compute FPGAs. MaxNode10G can receive data from the network, deploy complex decision making algorithms and send responses back to the network in single-digit microseconds. Alternatively, data can be filtered and preprocessed on the FPGAs then sent over the low-latency PCI Express link for further processing on conventional CPUs.

The key advantage with MaxNode10G over other FPGA-enabled low latency platforms is the Maxeler dataflow programming environment with MaxCompiler. MaxCompiler allows the user to specify the trading algorithm in a simplied Java interface and compile directly into the trading hardware to achieve maximum performance.

For High Frequency Trading and other applications area in finance, atomic clock inputs allow us to coordinate timing within one location and across a worldwide network to within ultimate accuracy. In addition to hardware infrastructure, we license high speed exchange protocols such as FIX and FAST.
