Maxeler demonstrates acceleration of seismic elastic modelling at Stanford

Maxeler Technologies today demonstrated order of magnitude acceleration of a seismic 2D elastic modelling application. Acceleration was achieved by taking software developed at the Stanford Center for Earth and Environmental Sciences (CEES) and porting it to the Maxeler acceleration platform, the MAX-1. Acceleration was measured in wall clock time for the application compared to a state-of-the-art Opteron node.
